Paige, Fabulous article! Thanks for taking the time to write this. I'm going to send the link to a couple of my homeschooling friends in other states. I'm kicking myself that we didn't get our boys together this summer. I'd still love to do it some time if you all have any free time.

Really good reading, I wish it were made public because more people need to realize the importance of a good education for the children. I rest assured that yours are getting just that and also growing up with God in their lives. Thank you for working to produce good people, good citizens for the future and for loving your children like a parent should.

Paige and Jon, congratulations on the choice you've made and the love you've shown towards your kids. Homeschooling must be daunting as all get-out but I honestly wonder why more parents do not do this. To answer my own question, at least in part, I'm afraid that more sets of parents than we are comfortable in acknowledging would prefer to have someone else to do it; it gets the kids out of our hair most of the day; or, if my kids fail I'll have someone to blame--believe me, they'll hear from me on that. As a cop some of the most neglected kids that I ever saw came from semt-afluent families bent on living a lifestyle they couldn't afford except with two salaries.
Your children will quickly learn what love you have for them to have undertaken such a huge responsibility. They will grow up with religious instruction which IS your right and responsibility to provide them. And mostly, your kids will likely reflect the love they got from Mommy & Daddy by homeschooling THEIR kids one day.
Best wishes for your continued success in raising your boys,
Kevin (your facebook friend)
